Our church has been encouraging us to hold weekly Family Home Evenings regularly. Its been something on our minds, but no action put forth. Finally today we held ours with little Shauna.
We opened the Family Home Evening with hymn "I am a Child of God" followed by a short opening prayer by Shauna (Mummy in Shauna's voice) thanking Heavenly Father for everything, and to have His Spirit be with us in our Family Home Evening, that Shauna will be reverent, and we are able to continue having this weekly. Shauna bowed her head, clasped her hands and closed her eyes respectfully.. it was so sweet!
Then Daddy gave a short lesson - short story on the Charity: the Good Samaritan. Shauna listened attentively. Daddy told the story with simple words so that she can understand.
Very quickly we closed with a closing hymn: " Teach me to walk in the Light" with Shauna chorusing again. She is very pleased with herself for 'leading' us with the music. Then we had a closing prayer by Daddy.. yes, her head bowed her eyes closed thru out the prayer too. I am so proud of her.
Finally, we digged into the refreshments: Mr Bean biscuits that Mummy picked up from Compasspoint earlier. Oh, Daddy and Shauna enjoyed it so much - you shld see them bending over the box sharing the biscuits!
All in all, a wonderful Family Home Evening. And since we tried to keep it as short as possible - Shauna managed to stay reverent thru out the whole session!
